Thought it might be fun to post some games you've played or part of games you've played for everyone's viewing pleasure. You can post glorious games, or not so glorious games, but either way, it's a good way for everyone to learn from victories and mistakes.

Wanted to post chess bargains on this forum, since chess gear (clocks, boards, pieces) can be rather expensive. Here is a clock, vinyl board, and pieces similar to mine. (the pieces on this board are a bit lighter) http://www.wholesalechess.com/chess/sale_and_clearance/new/beginners_chess_gear_combo

The first forum topic was getting long. So here is a continuation of that forum. Keep the games coming, I've enjoyed your games. If you can, take the time to explain or challenge everybody else on tactics and moves you saw in advance so we can use the games like the tactics trainer.

"The average adult USCF tournament player is rated about 1450. Many beginners start out with ratings of 1000 or so, with scholastic players starting out at around 600. The average of all USCF players is about 1100. In the US, if your rating gets up to 2000, you get your first professional title: Expert. Mastersare those rated 2200 or higher. A Grandmaster would normally be rated about 2500. (See the next section, which explains International Titles.) The highest rated players in the world on the FIDE system have ratings of about 2800. So, to get a rating, contact your national organization and find out when they have rated events that are open to new players." Consider this is live standard play rankings! Your online play tends to boost 100-400 points more than what your live play actually is.

Found an interesting timeline of the interaction of chess and religion. http://www.chess.com/article/view/religion-and-chess

Hey guys, I'd love to get a chess night going somewhere in Middletown -- maybe Java Johnny's or Kidd or something. Could be a cool way to get out in the community, I'm sure there are a lot of folks in Middletown who play chess. Any ideas?
Ok, this is all new to me. Basically, as a group we can challenge other groups, we vote on a move, and the highest voted move wins. We can discuss moves in the game as we play it. As I set up games (or as you set up games), just remember to keep games longer than usual, at least 3 days time for each move so we have time to go over each move if needs be.
Go here to participate in our group vote games. When you go to the page you must click to accept/play the game in the upper right corner of the game. http://www.chess.com/groups/votechess/the-oaks-chess-team You will also want to bookmark this page to quickly check it every day or 2 to see the progress on all the games. Reason: your personal alert thingy won't let you know when it's our turn to make a move, so you'll just have to check it, AND it's a pain in the butt to navigate the team options, its just better to bookmark it.
