Welcome to the first round of the 2016 season of Chess960!

Here are some reminders about Chess960 WL play this season:

  1. Always make sure you set the Start Time for your match. Set it to 09:00 AM (not 09:-- AM) Pacific Time on the designated start date, unless you have arranged an earlier start time with your opponent. We will be strictly enforcing start times.
  2. No player may be removed from a Chess960 WL match unless they have a timeout ratio of 25% or greater or are playing Chess960 WL matches for another Chess960 WL team in any division. Team match score adjustments will be made for repeat violators of the one-team-per-season rule.
  3. Adjusted match scores will be displayed at www.chessleagues.com, which will be updated regularly.
  4. If you are new to the WL and would like some additional tips, check out these links:  Chess960 World League GuideHow to Set Up Matches Using the Start Time Feature, and How to Set Alerts.

From the listing of teams below, sorted by division, find your opponent, go to their team page using the link in the Teams and Representatives thread, and send them a match challenge with details as follows:

  • Match Name: Chess960 WL2016 R1: your team vs opponent's team
  • Game Type: Chess960
  • Days per Move: 3 days
  • Minimum games: 10 (will reduce number of no-shows)
  • Players per team: see divisional minimums listed below, e.g. for Div E phpseAuJy.png
  • Concurrent games per opponent: 2
  • Games are RATED
  • Start Time:  Jan  31  2016  9 AM  00

Send and accept the challenge without delay.  NEVER wait for the other team to send the challenge: If you do not see a challenge from your opponent now, go ahead and send it yourself.

Accept the challenge without delay and immediately check to make sure that the match parameters and the start time are set correctly.  If they are not correct, please fix the problem immediately by canceling the match and issuing a new challenge with the correct parameters, then contact your opponent's admin to inform them of what you have done.

If you have sent your challenge but your opponent is not accepting it, please report it in the Chess960 match problems thread, so that everybody involved can help to find and fix the problem quickly.

To contact team representatives for communication and problem fixing, find them in the Teams and Representatives thread.

When your match is open for registration, please post its link in the Chess960 WL2016 Match Links thread.

Please encourage all your players to sign up for the match by posting announcements in your group's News, Notes or forums. Make sure you reach the required minimum participation in time, and build good overall participation.

Inform your players they need to choose one single Chess960 World League team for all season. Check especially the players with a different flag, and find out which team they will choose to play for in Chess960 World League 2016. Track the Chess960 WL2016 Multi-Player thread to make sure you quickly find and fix your team's newly reported multiplayer issues before the match starts.

If you have suggestions on how the WL format could be improved, you can post them to the WL2017 Suggestions thread.
