Hi everyone, I am very new to managing my own club. I have had some help and my club is offering a diamond membership to the winner of a tournament. I have made the tournament open for anyone to join because my club is too small and I need people to join. In the description, I specifically told people that the winner must be someone within the club but I fear they will join and leave. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can promote my club and get people to join while getting heaps of people to participate in my tournament?

It's been my experience that people tend NOT to quit clubs they've joined.  They just become inactive.  Having said that, if you're giving away something of value (diamond membership), my bet is your tourneys and club will be successful...at least initially.  Money tends to make things happen.  But you may have to KEEP spending money if you don't want to do all the hard work involved in building up a club WITHOUT spending money.

Those with more experience than I will probably be of more help to you as far as club promotion is concerned..

That's great that you are providing Diamond membership to the winner.

As far as club is concerned I think you should start by using all the invites that you get per day. That is 30 per day.

Day by day your club will grow. There is no fast method. Once you get decent amount of numbers you can then create a tournament and after creating the tournament you can invite your club members to play in the tournament.

Make sure your club is active with activities like team matches or vote chess or etc. Members like to be in a club which is active with activities.

One more thing , members joining and leaving is something that you cannot control it's up to them and these things happen in every other club. Just stay positive in your approach and good luck.

If you have a particular interest, or a cause that is dear to your heart, ally your club specifically with that interest. Do it soon before your club already has plenty of members who might not wish to associate themselves with the particular focus that you choose. If the only thing people are focussed on is winning a premium membership, you might find your club very expensive to carry on.

I strongly recommend caution in giving real prizes for online tournaments, particularly in daily chess.  It creates a strong incentive to cheat, and if someone does cheat a single tournament may or may not provide enough data for the detection team to prove it and take action.

If you do want to go ahead, though, please be very careful with how you advertise it.  If you advertise it widely, you significantly increase the chances of someone deciding to cheat to get premium membership.
