PCL Thematic Endgames S2

Registration is closed for the Phoenix Chess League Thematic Endgames Season #2.

Description:

The Phoenix Chess League Thematic Endgames Season #2 is a 3 day per move tournament. Clubs will play in groups of up to 8, in a round robin format.

Rules:

The competition will be divided in four sections:

• Rated, open rating, 5+players,
• Rated, U1400, 3+ players,
• Unrated, open rating, 5+ players,
• Unrated, U1400, 3+ players.

All matches will be played by 'Rounds', with pairings between each club. All rounds will start on Tuesdays for unrated and Saturdays for rated, from respectively 4th and 8th of November for Open and two weeks later for U1400, and will continue with 4 weeks between each (check the calendar below for each round's starting date).

Either club in an match can send the challenge, latest 12 days before the starting date. Matches need to be accepted latest 9 days before the starting date. If none of both clubs sent the challenge in time, match will be counted as lost to both clubs; if a club did not accept the challenge 3 days after its opponent had send the challenge, match will be counted as lost by the club who did not accept the challenge. To ensure a correct assessment of challenges creation and matches acceptation in time, challenges and matches must be reported in this topic before the end of the challenging and acceptation periods.

As a general rule, common sense and best effort will be used. The content will be, when possible, chosen over the form and the effort will be going towards starting as many matches as possible rather than having forfeits for purely technical reasons.

Requirements of joining: 

For teams that didn't participate yet in a daily competition of the Phoenix Chess League, please provide a reference match, that has at least 3 (for U1400) or 5 (open) players.

Endgames as planned:

Positions, as in season 1, will featured endgame setups with unballanced pieces but balanced evaluation from chess.com's engine.

Positions will be the same for rated and unrated but not in the same round orders.

Registrations will close on 14th of October, groups will be announced on the 15th and will be open for discussion until the 19th of October.

We will update results frequently, and once all matches are adjudicated, we will announce the results and the winners.
