II'm really upset about the racism on chess.com, especially the racism of an admin of chess.com in Spanish, it's humiliating that such a person can be an administrator

I think you may be referring to a comment that was posted by me in one of my private groups that was taken out of context. It was meant as a joke and nothing more. That group is known for making jokes. I can assure you that I am not racist having been adopted by loving Mexican parents and having been raised in Mexico for the first 16 years of my life.

I take great pride in embracing my heritage and identify as Mexican and am proud to represent Mexico in the highest fashion.

jokes about racism ??? about my people ???, I'm sorry but I don't understand, please explain to me how something like that you said can be a joke. You should have dignity and QUIT.

It wasn't a joke about racism. It was a joke about being trapped in an elevator in Mexico. Why don't you post the comment so that we can all see that it was meant in fun and not an attack on my beautiful Mexican culture.

that is all yours, I don't see any joke... all latino americans considered that disrespectful

I am presently in Mexico visiting my family and a friend of mine called me very nervously and told me that she was trapped in an elevator. She was the one who actually told me that joke I thought it was hilarious and I repeated it in my group. It was meant to be funny. Growing up in Mexico myself and in the family it is very fun loving and funny. I felt very open about sharing this joke in my own private group. There are a lot of people in that group and a lot of them are from Mexico. 99% of the people in my group know that we joke all the time. It just so happened it's someone new to the group not understanding that we often joke about a lot of things took that comment out of context. Also this person that took the comment out of context appears to be a member who is fairly new to the community and who has had previous accounts in the past. These previous accounts that she comes back to chess.com from are always from Spain.

Yes well I don't see anything racist about that comment. In fact you don't have to be Mexican to fart every human being farts. I happen to fart myself. And again I must reiterate that the comment that was made in my private group notes was understood as comedic. That group is private because some people do not understand the comedy. But that's all that it was intended to be if some people are offended by it then I extend my heartfelt apology I am by no means racist.

Hello Luzhim,

I hope you are well.

I can assure you that @cheeky_chicky is in no way racist, she holds absolutely no prejudices whatsoever. She is active in several of my groups and is an extremely popular and fun loving character, this is a guaranteed case of misunderstanding.

There is always the possibility in a richly diverse community such as that of Chesscom, where both different characters and cultures interact with scores of each other continuously that incidents of misinterpretation will arise, this is not usually the fault of either party but an innocent misunderstanding.

I can recommend that you take the time to get to know @cheeky_chicky better, enjoy her club and realise what a truly welcoming, amusing and friendly woman she really is.

In response to your question, there is clearly no place for racism in a decent society either online or in your neighbourhood.

I would like to add that it is not nice to be wrongly accused of such things and more caution should be shown before the personalities of respectable members are vandalised with false statements.

Thank you for your consideration.

The trouble begins when we begin to separate ourselves as a people. When we say oh I am Mexican or oh I am African or my race is this or my race is that the reality is that we are all the same race. We are all of the human race. And although I identify as Mexican and I'm proud to represent this wonderful country of Mexico I also understand and I am part of something much larger I am part of the human race

I have known @cheeky_chicky for four years or more. In that time I have never seen her as being a racist. She particularly loves Mexico, and the Mexican people. @Luzhim1 Have you never heard a Mexican comedian tell a joke where the punchline has to do with Mexican culture? Does that make them racist against their own people? I say no, it does not. If you do not see her words as being "funny" that is fine. You can even say the joke is in bad taste if that is how it affects you. But if you are calling her a racist over the whole thing, you are wrong!

I have not seen any racism on chess.com. And after reading this forum I still don't see any racism. I see a person who wants to cry racism when there is none.

So what do you think about people who cry "racism" where there is none on chess.com?

are you mexican??? noo??? mmm If you were Mexican, you would see it

No I would not see something that is not there. IF you are concerned about whether or not I am Mexican then maybe YOU are racist...

Just because you are Mexican does not mean that anything you don't like is racist. Just grow up and deal with the real world.

@Luzhim If you use google you will find many more examples. But, I went to the trouble of finding a link for you that shows a Mexican comedian telling jokes about Mexicans. Just click HERE

Luzhim1 isn't getting any support here which isn't good either.

The joke was clearly not intended to be racist or in any other way offensive, but this thread is a reminder to us all that making jokes about national groups or any other groups can be taken badly, and the feelings of those who are offended are perfectly valid.
