Hi guys! I am happy to join your club. I would you like to introduce myself as a chess coach. I have 9 years of experience in chess coaching. My training program includes improving all aspects of the game - like openings repertoire, strategy, tactics, middlegame (for example, pawn structures or positions with an isolated pawn) etc. But very important thing is that I will analyse your games first to identify your strengths and weaknesses and then I will adjust my training program to you. This is very important because every single player is unique. I use Skype (with sharing screen option) for communication and PayPal for payments. When it comes to payment, you can choose between two offers: a 45 min training session for 20 euros or a 60 min training session for 30 euros. From my coaching experience, a 60 min training session is optimal, but you know your budget. Training session can be individual (1:1) or we can do group training. If you are interested, you can text me here on chess.com or by email: nenads1987@gmail.com. You can also find me on Skype: nenad.87. Thanks for your attention!

The chess world has a new world champion, the Chinese Ding Liren. The best of all currently has dropped from the world cycle due to lack of motivation. Therefore he will stop being the champion but he will continue to be the best of all. There are players who mark an era for being the best and maintaining a regularity in their results. In my opinion there are very few who reach such a high status: Morphy, Steinitz, Lasker, Capablanca, Botvinik, Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov and Carlsen. They are arranged chronologically, not according to preference. Of course it is my opinion and I understand that not everyone has to agree. In 1910 Emanuel Lasker, who had been world champion since 1894, put his crown on the line for the fourth time against Karl Schletcher in a 10-game match. In the fifth game the Austrian player prevails after four draws, and they continue to divide the point until the ninth. The tenth game is going to be an extraordinary battle because the two players are going for the victory. Apparently there was a clause that provided that the challenger was forced to win by two points difference, so Schletcher was forced to win if he wanted to be world champion. At the same time Lasker for a matter of decorum was obliged to equalize the score, since it would be embarrassing for him to retain the title by losing the match. And finally the biggest one, Lasker, won after a merciless battle, with mistakes and chances for both parties.Something similar was going to happen to Magnus Carlsen in his match against Sergei Karjakin, where he was going to defend his world champion title for the second time.Schletcher and Karjakin had points in common, since both were rocky players with good defensive resources, let's say hard nuts to crack.Carlsen and Karjakin played a 12-game match in 2016, and in the eighth game the world champion tried to press hard, taking advantage of the fact that he was playing with the white pieces, in search of victory, but the Russian held on and successfully counterattacked with a sharp final of queens and a minor piece, to win the victory and get ahead on the scoreboard. Of course all the previous games had been drawn. And then the match turned dramatic for the world champion. But in the tenth game he was going to manage to equalize the match, in another epic battle, where the Russian overlooked the possibility of forcing a draw….Carlsen did not want to go through any more shocks, and in the last game he played with white, he made a quick draw instead of going for the win. So they went to the tiebreaks and Carlsen won easily and retained the title….I am going to organize a thematic tournament with the Ruy Lopez Opening, since of the twelve games of the match, 8 were played with this opening. Both players had it in their repertoire for the contest.Of course they will be able to see the match with the commented games in English and Spanish.Players from 1600 elo points may participate in a tournament with a limit of 48 participants, which will be distributed in 8 Groups of 6, and under normal conditions 4 rounds will be played. The rhythm is 10 days for each movement. So all those who want to relive the 2016 Carlsen – Karjakin match and want to practice the Spanish Opening can take advantage of this opportunity…GreetingsPS: I DON'T THINK WE WILL SEE ANOTHER PLAYER THAT MARKS AN ERA IN THE SHORT TERM. THESE TYPES OF PLAYERS APPEAR WITH LITTLE FREQUENCY. https://www.chess.com/tournament/match-carlsen-karjakin-ruy-lopez

In the 90s of the last century there was a television program called Tiempo Nuevo, hosted by the journalist Bernardo Neustadt, which was going through its peak of popularity. He hosted a program where the main theme was politics, which at that time was something that did not interest me, but I liked the musical curtain, it was attractive to me, and a long time later I found out that it was a tango by Astor Piazzolla, and the truth that that music did not sound like a tango. Investigating Piazzolla's biography I have discovered that he was a musical genius, a revolutionary composer who was mistreated until time proved him right and today he is an Argentine symbol of the music of Buenos Aires.Piazzolla was ahead of his time and it is worth getting to know his life and his music. For that I already have published several videos in Spanish and English. Unfortunately, it had a tragic end and the worst thing that could happen to a man devoted to music and who never stopped writing, composing and playing the bandoneon happened to him... I invite you to participate in this tournament in honor of Astor Piazzolla. And when the tournament starts I'm going to keep uploading videos only of his music. https://www.chess.com/tournament/torneo-astor-piazzolla
Hello friendsI am organizing 3 tournaments with the following characteristics: 4 Groups of 6 players with 7 days of reflection per move. They classify 3 per Group and under normal conditions 3 rounds will be played. In each round, if everything goes normal, 10 games will be played simultaneously. These are thematic tournaments and they will deal with the following openings:QUEEN'S GAMBITS: The white player has to be prepared for a lot of possibilities, and the black player can let his imagination run wild, he can play a quiet positional game or he can unleash all hell with those weird and rarely played variations. This is a good time to practice this opening with both flushes. https://www.chess.com/tournament/gambito-de-dama-6 BALTICA DEFENSE: It is a variant of the Queen's Gambit declined, one of those rare variants, therefore it can be practiced in the previous tournament or deepened with this one with both colors. https://www.chess.com/tournament/defensa-baltica ITALIAN OPENING: This is one of the oldest openings in chess. Today it is very popular, and it never hurts to practice it with both colors…. https://www.chess.com/tournament/apertura-italiana-2-1 So on the one hand the idea is to play a tournament and compete to reach the maximum of our possibilities, and on the other hand to practice and study some or all of these openings….Greetings
Tactics and Psychology 46. In the book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” T. Harv Eker says that the 3 most dangerous words in the English language are “I know that”. Don’t think to yourself “I know what a knight fork is”, and then think that you don’t need to study them for example. 47. Don’t underestimate the importance of good quality sleep. Read “Brain Rules” by John Medina for more information about how the brain is processing what it learned during the day while it sleeps. Naps are also very important, and undervalued in our society. Even rats who are trained to run in a maze, will run the maze much better the next day if they get a good night sleep, than if their sleep is disturbed. 48. Eliminate distractions while playing chess. Turn off your iPod, cell phone, and anything else that makes noise. People think that they are good multi-taskers, but in reality they are not. The brain can only focus on one thing at a time. Even if you think it is “in the background” it will affect your problem solving ability. The book “Peopleware” discusses this issue.

Dear Chess Friends! I believe every chess player faced with a choice – to exchange or not to exchange pieces. How to recognize that it’s time to trade pieces or that this exchange is in your favor? Yes, it’s very often when a proper calculation can tell us the answer. But what if the position is calm and it’s quite difficult to understand and predict the consequences of a certain exchange? This is what I’m going to tell you about on my next 51st webinar - “The Exchanging Problem”. What are we going to cover on the webinar? In the opening or even in the middlegame the consequences of a wrong exchange can be compensated by the activity of your other pieces. However, in the endgame a wrong exchange can cost you a game! Moreover, it’s very common when an obvious exchange doesn’t meet the requirements of the position, while a paradoxical exchange is the only way to win in the game. For example, a simplifying exchange sometimes is the best way to convert your material or positional advantage. That’s why the result of the game mainly depends on the ability of a player to exchange pieces properly. I’m going to illustrate everything by the examples of games played by top grandmasters and, of course, explain the ideas behind their moves: Ernest Klein – Jose-Raul Capablanca Bobby Fischer – Tigran Petrosian Salo Flohr - Rudolf Spielmann Laszlo Szabo – Bobby Fischer Mikhail Botvinnik – Ratmir Kholmov Come to the webinar, improve your ability to play positionally and define when and which piece to exchange! The webinar starts on Sunday (4th of October) at 10 a.m. (EDT), 2 p.m. (GMT), 5 p.m. (Moscow time). This webinar is free. Please, register for the webinar with this link: https://tricksofchess.clickmeeting.com/webinar-51-the-exchanging-problem/register Please, don’t forget to register in advance and reserve your spot in case of high number of attendees. See you on the webinar! FM Victor Neustroev

Computers and Tactics 1. Review your games with Fritz or similar chess programs. I like to use the “Full analysis” feature which will annotate the games with marks such as “?” and “!!”. You want to first figure out how many mistakes that you are making in a game. If your typical game contains two or more “??” moves, try to get to the point where you are only averaging one “??” per game. Once there try to get down to only having “?” moves in your game, etc, until you are at the point that you are not making blunders. 2. The “Blunder Check” feature is also useful. This will print the material evaluation after each move. A plus score means that white is ahead, a negative score means that black is ahead. For example +2.01 means that white is ahead about 2 pawns. -0.5 means that black is winning by about half a pawn. You can run both types of analysis on a game, but not at the same time. If you want to run both, make sure that you do not check “Erase old annotations”. 3. You can run analysis of more than one game by first selecting them in a database list, and then hitting the analysis button. Once Fritz is done with analysis of the first game, it will move to the second game, and so on. This can be great for doing analysis of a large number of games, such as a collection of blitz games. 4. When solving chess problems make sure you turn off anything that will help suggest moves. Some programs such as Fritz or Chessbase will show an arrow to indicate which move it thinks is best. In my version of Fritz these are called “Dynamic Hints” and “Spy” features. 5. If you do plan on entering your game into a computer program manually, do it as soon as you can after the game is over. Being a former editor of a chess magazine, I know that most score sheets (even from high rated players) are often riddled with errors. If you enter the game soon after it is completed, you will have a much better chance of filling in the missing pieces.

Late one night a burglar broke into a house and while he was sneaking around he heard a voice say, "Jesús is watching you." He looked around and saw nothing. He kept on creeping and again heard, "Jesús is watching you." In a dark corner, he saw a cage with a parrot inside. The burglar asked the parrot, "Was it you who said Jesús is watching me" The parrot replied, "Yes." Relieved, the burglar asked, "What is your name?" The parrot said, "Clarence." The burglar said, "That's a stupid name for a parrot. What idiot named you Clarence?" The parrot answered, "The same idiot that named the rottweiler Jesús."
