My chess-table

Isn't it kinda hard to reach for the pieces, with that border around the board?
It's like playing chess on a 'normal' table. Both the chessboards and the portraits are painted on the surface...

That would be very difficult to concentrate, like all masters are staring at you to make the right move.
Yeah, exactly. You move a piece and all of a sudden - like in a Harry Potter movie - the portraits shake their heads. Or - worse - laugh their ***** off....

Being too critical cannot be wrong, can it? Always be critical!
For the order I used this wikipedia site, where the official FIDE champs are listed:
So, according to this list, Khalifman comes before Anand. Then come Ponormajov, Kazimdzjanov, Topalov and - finally Kramnik and Carlsen. However: there have been only 16 'classical' FIDE world champions. So according to that order Kramnik should follow Kasparov and Anand should be next. It was a hard decision, but I finally chose to paint all official FIDE world champions...

Now I hate to get too critical here, but....
I noticed it looks like they are in order of winning the title. You have Spassky, Fischer, Karpov, and Kasparov. Then it gets out of order. Next should be Kramnik, but is that supposed to be a drawing of Khalifman before Kramnik? And where is Vishy Anand?
Next to Kasparov is a drawing of Khalifman indeed. And next to Khalifman is Anand. Kramnik is all to the right, above him is the current world champion Carlsen....

So, it looks like it is Chalifman, but really? This is the same person?
Yup, that's Khalifman!

All those were painted? Beautiful work!
Yes indeed, all were painted. And the chessboards were painted too! Thank you very much for the compliment!

Beautiful table. With all those chess masters looking at me while playing, I would hope to do my best!

I would say this isn’t “my cup of tea”, but wow! What a work of art! Nicely done Mr. Strat. Very unique and betting the conversations that will ensue while playing will be quite engaging.

I would say it's very well executed. I would've opted for a small border around the playing surface for better board/portrait separation with the portraits themselves having much smaller borders especially on bottom.
But overall I really love the artworks style of portrait. Its much more appealing to me than a regular photo. I can see myself possibly getting similar portraits done but for framing and wall mounting.
Side note: I would not have recognized Khalifman even from the pictures posted. He doesn't look bad just totally different.
Get inspired by all FIDE worldchampions as you play on this chess table...
