When I was growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Dad would take us tree hunting for Christmas. He grabbed the 12ga shotgun and we hiked into the woods until we found the right tree, and Dad would shoot the top off at about 7’. Some of those trees looked a lot like Charlie Browns. One year we wired in extra branches. I’d do it all over again!

Is Lola still here? I'm just now seeing this thread, and she asked a key questions in post #70 that nobody seemed keen on answering, but not only do I have an answer to her question but also it's the correct one, I believe.

I always found that the big psychological crunch never came at a round number like 30, 40, 50 or 60. It always came at the psychological gate, like 27, 37, 47, 57 . . .
I'm the same.
Was recently reading about some child celebrity I used to watch on TV as a kid. When I saw their age, I thought "they're so old now" and then of course immediately after that thought was "and we're the same age." Ugh.

I'm not as old as many people here, but I guess you're never too young to start feeling bad about yourself

None of my birthdays bothered me. But the older i get the more fearful I’ve become that there won’t be enough. I begin to regret more and more, early life decisions that still effect me today. Red said it best…
“Not a day goes by I don't feel regret, and not because I'm in here or because you think I should. I look back on myself the way I was...stupid kid who did that terrible crime...wish I could talk sense to him. Tell him how things are. But I can't. That kid's long gone, this old man is all that's left, and I have to live with that.”
