Alright alright…you crazy cool people have inspired me. I’m making a chess club on this bloody app. You should all join. Three rules: play chess whenever, eat cheese semi frequently and go to the occasional chess.com forum and proselytize “Cheesse Club” not to get new members of course but to slightly irritate people trying have a legitimate conversation about chess.

Serious Question

I wonder if it is just me - but I have noticed a consistent pattern - of when I eat unpasteurised brie my play of the black bishop is below par for me but that of the white bishop is above par

However if I eat brie made with pasteurised milk the reverse occurs

Strange but true - I have put the game through analysis - and the difference is very clear

Blue Stilton - seems to lead me to end up with double pawns more than usual but I need to investigate this more before committing fully to this being true

Does anyone else have experiences or views on how the eating of a specific cheese alters their play ?

AHA! my time has come!!

So, start with analysis, always analysis. Sort out which cheese weakens your play and which strengthens it. Some cheese may have side effects or may not be your style. For eg- Mozzarella may strengthen my play but weaken yours. Also mix it up!! If pasteurized and unpasteurized cheese have opposite good effects, combine them! Eat a bit of both! If a cheese enhances your queen play but degrades your bishop play, eat a cheese that enhances your bishop play along with it! Word of caution: some cheese do not mix well. Before eating two different cheese at once, always do the Ritual. More on that soon. Consider organizing your cheese in a way that enhances play. Organize them for each opening. Keep notes! Also consider trying out which food or what type of cracker or other appetizers go along with your cheese on it's way to enhance it! Some cheese may not go with your stomach, so remember not to stress your body too much!! Relaxation is a key to living well!

Now, for the Ritual. Cheese may not always agree with/may overtax your stomach. Never stress your body! Every part is essential, when functioning! Always take lactase enzyme supplement (such as Lactaid) to aid the digestion of cheese when two of them do not go together!! This is especially needed when you need to digest your cheese better.

Play well, fare well, and cheese well, mate!!

Off to you!
