The board gets grayed out when I make a move to see the analysis

I just played a game and I'm looking through it. When I make a move different from what was played just to see the outcome, the board gets grayed out.

What was played
Board after making a hypothetical move

I see this issue as been faced before (Board is greyed out when making a variation), but the OP has gotten no responses since 2021.

Does anyone know how I can stop the board from getting grayed out, or at least how I can make the board go back to normal when I go back by pressing the left arrow key?

That's by design, to let you know you're in a variation, not the main line.

But when I go back to the normal game the board stays gray

OK, after testing, if there's any variation in the game, it will stay that way.

Is that a new feature or something? This hasn't happened to me before.

If you delete the variation move(s), the board will go back to its normal colour.

Yep this seems to work!

I've had the same irritation at this feature for AGES and I reckon it's something they should fix, because just clicking back onto the main line doesn't work, only Noobnilsr's method of deleting the variation line seems to work.

Hope some other people find this thread!

Thanks, I'm glad that you and hopefully more people find my comment to be helpful. I've been going through a very low point in my life and your comment really cheered me up. Thanks a lot.

Report it as a bug:

"Chess board stays greyed-out even after returning to the game continuation."
