There is a thread asking which Russian set is your favorite.

I do like all of these sets, but the first one in this thread is my favorite.

I like the knights better because they are not as large and more proportionate to the rest of the set, in my opinion.

I also like how the pointed finial on the kings is not so tall.

I like Mike's set with the red, white pieces as a relatively close second.

Ron, here's the link to that post, maybe we can get more opinions on the sets

Here are a couple pics of the one I have on the way. It looks like mine comes with the laughing night. The finals are plastic, a feature which appeals to me because I plan on using the set like any other. The board squares don't seem excessivly small like on some. Of course until I have it I won't know.

This is my african thornwood set that I sold on ebay. It was very unique but since it was unplayable I sold it. I should have sold it around here, I would have gotten more for it. Oh well.

the bishops

the knights

My avatar is the king and queen. LOL!

Very nice, MC! One of the Grandmaster sets.

I bought a set like  this at Christmas for myself, required re-felting immediately.  Weights appeared to be shot, with some hammering to fit the excavated bases.  Mark embossed into board documented set made in Ukraine in a Jewish community.  Very pretty set!
