Everyone's 2nd Chess Book (3rd printing)
That seems like a paradox
Thanks for the interest! Sorry the book was a couple of weeks late to Amazon. So far the two Amazon reviews are both 5-star, but I am always glad to get comments on the book (email or phone). Hopefully we will get a bunch more Amazon reviews as more people have time to read the book. It is, of course, now available everywhere around the world. I just got an email today from someone who was browsing it at his local bookstore!
I may purchase this just so I feel less guilty about all the free advice you've handed out over the years in columns and your ICC videos. I've been freeloading off you for far too long :)

All "feel guilty" purchases are appreciated. But seriously, I suggest to those who get free advice that if they wish to pay me back, consider a tax-deductible contribution to one of my two charities (for women in need and local scholastic chess) at The Philadelphia Foundation via http://danheisman.home.comcast.net/~danheisman/Main_Chess/donations.htm

We tried to get a third reprint of Everyone's 2nd Chess Book but the new publisher backed out. The good news is that about half the material in that book is somewhere in my Novice Nook columns (and more updated)
One of the popular bits of Everyone's 2nd Chess Book is the list describing the relationship between ELO/UCSF rating and specific chess skills/mistakes.
Interesting. That one's not elsewhere. Now if only we could get them to reprint the book. I think I get control in 2016
Dan, can you do microprinting for Everyone's 2nd Chess Book? I'd gladly pay a slight premium to get a new one.
USCF Sales was negotiating with Thinker's Press to reprint but did not. If they don't, maybe Thinker's Press will. We have not heard the final word yet I can't do anything because I don't have the rights.
I assume ChessisGood is asking the target audience for Everyone's 2nd Chess Book instead of "A Guide to Chess Improvement" (I have 11 books now!). The target for Everyone is someone who knows the moves and rules, has played a bunch of games, but wants to know how to get better. It is a lower target audience than my award-winning column on how to improve http://danheisman.home.comcast.net/~danheisman/Articles/Novice_Nook_Links.htm#Th-Z which is basically for anyone who wants to improve
Hi!
My 10th chess book "A Guide to Chess Improvement" - the Best of Novice Nook" from Everyman Chess (!) is available Oct 29 (tomorrow) in North America and in Europe in November. A few notes:
1) As loyal readers know, this is certainly not a book/column just for novices. Perhaps a better title was ... a guide to chess improvement
2) For those who read the column there are plenty of reasons to purchase the book: a) 3.5 new columns not online, b) Similar columns grouped and text consolidated, c) Text and references updated, and d) All analysis re-checked by computer (thank Mike Montgomery)
3) Other books in the pipeline for the next 6 months: The Improving Annotator (2nd edition); Back to Basics: Tactics (2nd printing - all known errata fixed); Everyone's 2nd Chess Book (3rd printing)
