Thanks @EfimLG47. No Jaques markings and the finial too large. Plus the price was in the hundreds rather than thousands of Euro!
@woldsman - still a very nice and good looking set. I recently replaced one of my Jaques sets, sold a 3" and got a 3.5" ivory set instead. Happy New Year!

My guess is 1960' Hong Kong Ivory set. (me=amateur)

By the way, I just put pictures of this fairly recent acquisition of mine on my website.
Magnificent chess pieces, it always amazes me how these can stay preserved in such a condition!
And... I'm eyeballing that chess board as well! 👍
@BrownishGerbil, the chess board was custom made for me by a German craftsman, who unfortunately has retired now. The squares are inlaid with ebony and myrtle burl wood with a walnut rim.
