The wordy explanation for every game move is something you see in Logical Chess... (Chernev) or most moves in Nunn's Understanding Chess..., but I don't recall groups of games limited by opening being treated this way.
Any annotated books based on openings?

Well the good thing about Logical Chess by Chernev is that many of the games did start with 1.e4 e5.
Unfortunately my friend never returned it.

Well, yes, 500 Master Games by Tartakower is sorted by opening, and most moves are commented on. There are lots of e4 e5 games (as well as everything else, exept the Sicilian is distinctly lacking).
Dont know if it was ever published in Algebraic, and donty know if you will still find a copy.
Oh, and by the way, this is my favourite chess book ever.

Yea Pietro Ponzetto. Bronstein's book on the King's Indian also used a similar method of showing lots of typical moves and such.
I'm not sure why nobody does that anymore.

rooperi and I meet a few times a year when this book comes up. It doesn't fit the bill for what OP was asking for but it's an excellent book to be informed, educated, and entertained by the old masters up to pre-WW2. Witty annotations by Tartakover are neat little gems one discovers as the games are played through.
A favorite book.
Anybody know any books with a bunch of games focused on one type of opening with EVERY move explained in words ? I was looking for openings for the 4 knights, 3 knights, and 2 knights defense. Also, I think any book with games having e4 e5 would do.
