Howdy all, I was very happy to pick this up recently. It’s a different variant to my other two similar sets. I believe this was marketed in the 1950’s as the ‘ Gambit’ series. It’s a lovely set.

What's that set made from (the last post)?

Hi @DreamscapeHorizons, thanks for your question, and …. I am not sure. The black side may be Bakelite - as it has a distinct smell when rubbed with a cloth and warm water however not so, with the white side. I may try and do a simichrome test, in future. Sorry for the vague answer but I cannot be certain.

@Powderdigit, Mark, I’m still interested in acquiring one of these sets for my collection. if you do happen to run across another, I ‘d be happy to buy it from you. Do let me know by DM. I’m not buying much these days, as my wife is watching me like a hawk, but this is one I’d definitely buy.
