No, it just blocks him from making comments in a topic you started and it blocks him from sending you messages.

Then it's almost useless to block anyone.

You are right, in my opinion.

That's unfortunate.  Other sites have blocking functions that are far more robust.

And this is why so many good posters have left here.

I don't get it.  This is your thread.  You block those who bother you, and they can't post on your thread any more.  How is that useless? This thread would go back to a rational discussion about chess pieces.  Unless you like the confrontation.

Note that I am not taking sides, I just think pretty much everyone is tired of reading the bickering, and you actually have a way to do something about it.

That sounds good, but it doesn’t stop it on the many topics I don’t start.

I have reported him 2 times now, so we’ll see what happens.

I certainly don’t want to see or even vaguely participate in bickering.  I first started with explanations and dialogue showing my point.  That didn’t matter as the name calling, insults and general attacks continued.  Then I started standing up and fighting back.  My side is that these two guys need to quit attacking and lying about what I have said.  Their arguments are that I am a racist and snob, in general.  They provide no actual evidence where they can show on this forum. My evidence can be found in the postings and one message.

Hey, I don’t want this as any kind of issue.  I can leave.  Or I can fight.  If they stop going after me, I am fine.

I was speaking primarily for myself because I haven't started any threads, yet I've been hassled and trolled for absolutely no (rational) reason whatsoever. I've blocked this person but what difference does it make if he can still read and comment on my posts. Useless, unless I only comment in threads I've started.

The rook is understated for a 5 power piece.  I had one set with a warring elephant.  We don't half to go that far.  Make the castle a castle

Eyechess....regarding your post #171......I never said any of your responses "bothered" me.

@Eyechess Thank you for your many posts about chess equipment in this forum. I often find great value in your opinions, although I don’t always entirely agree with your views. You are an important part of the chess community and we are fortunate to have you here.

As it relates to this particular thread, I would like to point out that I believe Eyechess has tried to start an honest dialogue about what each of us considers to be the best chess piece designs. I do not feel Eyechess has attempted to persuade anyone of anything including the validity of his own preferences. If you doubt this, please reference his comments near the outset of this thread (post 13):

“But heck, this is about our opinions. What one person thinks is kind of ugly another might think is very good looking. And in this "game" there is nothing wrong with that.”

There really should be nothing controversial about this thread - and at its best, it has been quite informative. Why not just ignore the trolls as well as drop the name calling/personal attacks and return to the topic - one that many consider to be illustrative, illuminating, and interesting?

Wow, very cool. I just saw this on the Chess Empire site. I've dubbed it the Hersey's Kisses chess set. The knight is a little anemic but I like it. Another one going on my wish list. I just wish it came in boxwood/ebony.

Oh that's really pretty! Marble chess sets are my favourite, but they're just too damn expensive. How much is that one?

That's a boxwood/brown glided set, not marble. $160. I think the rook, bishop and pawns are exceptional.

Yes, I know. And agreed, good piece design for sure.

Wow, I really like this set.

I am a sucker for those drop-shaped tops you call Hershey’ Kisses.

Noj has these in their GM Pavasovic set.  And HoS kind of has these in their pawns of their Players Series set.

I now need to go check out the price and begin begging my wife.

Oh right. I read your comment too quickly. Oops.

These may be a bit too much like my Sher-E-Punjab set so probably the Vienna Coffee House might be first. What's another $100. LOL

I like the Drueke design.  Unfortunately they don't make them anymore.  I wish they would start making them again.

It may not be THE BEST chess set design ever. But it does put a smile on my face every time I look at it. King is 77mm. 37mm belly at its widest.
