I agree, Novag is a excellent choice. I had one in my college days
Or try any palm device with Open Chess (free). People usually prefer the palm displays more than the proprietary handhelds (novag etc). Quite strong too, very strong. A great commercial palm prog is Hiarcs--looks better on the screen, if that matters.
