I, on my own initiative, decided to create this topic following the completely inappropriate remarks that some participants of the last contest made about Carl.

Hi everyone,

Allow me to share with you my happiness to have won a masterpiece of a complete chess set, amazing gift from Carl from Official Staunton.

It was a amazing surprise that Carl made to me, when announcing that i had won the contest he had again proposing to the chess.com community.

It is clear that behind his "very strong" personality, he is a real straight man, and he has a big and honest heart.

So I just would like to simply, but sincerely, thank Carl here.

PS: before some "nice" people speak... Let me say:
- Carl is not a friend.
- I have only buy once a chess set at Official Staunton, and it was 30% Off...
- Carl do not win money with me.
- The contest was honest and friendly. (how can it be something else)
(Hum! except with someone who was not very happy to, i suppose, to not be the winner... )

I was the winner of Carl's first contest.  I did not want an Ebony set so instead Carl sent me not only a set that I asked for but added a board that I had not asked for.  Indeed Carl is very generous and honorable.

I have seen no complaints on this forum about him or his company either.  His service is excellent and his products are all of high quality.  And his prices are very reasonable when compared to other companies' prices for the same or very similar products.

And the board, set and box you received look very nice indeed.

It has been about 4 hours since the gift from Carl of Official Staunton has arrived, and that I am sitting there contemplating it since then ...

I must confess to be completely stunned in front of this incredible gift ...

You will understand that I am delighted with the way that Carl has chosen to promote his online store: Official Staunton.

Because in addition to the occasional discounts he already does (for our pleasure )

He decided to make free contests open to all, whose winner will win a superb (not to say fabulous) prize...
All that Carl expects from us, It is simply to write a few lines on articles of our choice, chosen from its online store ...

You're going to tell me that Carl is trying to advertise himself for Official Staunton like this ...

For sure!...of course! and so what ...!!!

But don’t you think that we are all beneficiaries of its way of acting, with its promotions and discounts of all kinds ...

Are we not happy to find (finally) a reseller who takes care of our opinions, our ideas, our critics ...

For my part, I have not seen any other dealers than Carl willing to take the risk of putting value chess set as gifts for, maybe, only maybe, find back a hypothetical benefit...

So to finish, I, of course, give a huge thanks to this guy who, even if he try to makes sometimes a bit of ads on chess.com, always allows us to benefit of discount prices and, to access freely to a gorgeous prize that maybe you.... can win!

I only want to add two things.

First, the quality and service from Carl has shown to be excellent.  We have seen no complaints about the company or products at all.

Second, their prices are very competitive where you see those prices lower than others offering similar quality products.

About the prize...

Concerning the chess box ...

This is really the first time I am stunned by the majesty of a chess box ... how can you say ... no, I can not find the words ...
One thing is sure, it is, for me, much closer to a small work of art than anything else ...

So elegant, so elegant...

Concerning the chessmen ...

For the chessmen, it is quite easy; I who adore originality, I am really filled, and i love the soft red reflections of the black pieces...

Obviously, knights have, as often in a game, my preference ... moreover, they seem so proud and impetuous ... they will be very certainly very difficult to beat ...
(Hum, they make me think of someone ...

The chessboard ...

Ah! The chessboard ... What a chessboard !!!
Already, although I am in possession of very many boards really beautiful, this chessboard is simply the most beautiful of all ...
Not only is it a real work of art all by itself, but it is absolutely and beautifully perfect !!!
It is more a sumptuous battlefield than a simple chessboard ...
It is, in my eyes, the highlight of this extraordinary prize of which I had the immense chance of being the winner.

Congrats and enjoy it with a smile each day you play on it. Yes Carl is most generous. The set is breathtaking. I do believe the board and the box and both works of art made in Italy, but I could be wrong.

I do not know where has been made this so elegant chess box, but i confirm it is a great job...as it is for the chess board that; you are right, has been made in Italy.
PS: for different reasons, there is little chance that somebody will play a day on this chess board (or on the others)... but it is ok, because the room where i live is a sort of Chess Museum and it is, each days, a real wonderful pleasure for my eyes.
