I have a doubt with the Queens… what do you think ?
Chavet N° 8

That's the first thing that I noticed immediately yes, the queen is totally different than what I've seen before. Could you detect the slightest swirls on the white pieces?

Chavet pieces are made from Jura woods and they're known to have swirly grains. The easiest to see are the pawns heads.

It's hard to tell from pictures made with flash, flash will make the colors washed out. But to me it doesn't look like a Jura wood. I found a picture from here, it shows the swirly grains well

Next to the obvious queen, there are subtle little differences with the rest of the pieces but one way to be sure it's the woods used. If it's not Jura woods then it's a repro.

Yes the knights makes me doubt very much, other then slightly sharp edge above the base I can't find anything odd about it. If this is a repro then this is the first repro knight I've seen that's really well done.

Ah that's much better without flash yes. Now I would say it has that swirly grains yes. Tough one this one. Now I would say I'm giving the benefit of the doubt

Actually I have never seen 153/8 before so it might very well be the queen is carved this way. I've seen other 102mm chavet and it has different queen so those I've seen might be different series.
Just arrived : KH = 102 mm - ø43 mm (felted weighted)
