Here is a board I bought years ago from HOS which is among my favorites. Not sure the exact wood combination but the coloring and contract is quite attractive, also it is very solid (heavy). The pieces are Jaques from around 1900-10. They have a very nice feel to them. I also like "clunky" style pieces and will post a picture of my Pinney set in the next few days which is very attractive (made in LA around 1930's)
Chess Board / Pieces as Art
Thanks vulcanccit. I also have an even nicer board made by the poster #16 of Babinga which I will try and take a picture of as well. I also will be posting something with chess as "Art" a leather screen with real chess positions on it shortly
Here is a screen that I purchased in Napa from an art store which had heavily discounted it. It has three panels with five diagrams per panel all with positions taken from real games.

You guys are going to make me expand my chess set collection.
I don't know if I have enough room in my place for that!
That's a ROOMY hobby--if you know what I mean!

@aansel
It's a privilege to own an old Jaques in any case, but your specimen seems to be in very nice condition, which isn't all that common.
The Pinney, which the HOS Liberty is based on, is a nice catch too. It was sturdy and came with a broken piece guarantee. Nice enough to be used in the US Championships as well.
Looking forward to seeing it.
Reshevsky on a Pinney:

Here's the two sets I brought back from Mexico (see my other thread), the black & grey one for me and the black/brown one for my soon-to-be brother-in-law:

Here's the wooden folding travel set I bought in the Philippines many years ago. It's pretty simple but a nice set. I'm not sure what kind of wood it's made from.

And here is the little brother of the chess set above. It's made of some kind of white marble-like stone and onyx. It's tiny, with the board just over 7" square.

Well when a knight was getting ready to go into battle, I'm sure he had his horse facing the enemy, not facing sideways. :)
I am a brand-spanking-newbie here, and I already have a quetsion (asking for help)!
A month or so ago I came across an image of what might be the most exquisite Staunton pieces I have ever seen. The pieces were well-proportioned and elegant (to my eyes, anyway), and most impressively, the knight was the most realistic horse I've ever seen on a chess set, replete with full, naturally draping mane.
I thought I'd bookmarked it (but, apparently not), thought it was in this thread, even (again, no luck). I've spent hours searching this site and the rest of the web trying to find it so that I can look for it to purchase. Again, no luck.
Do any of you know what this set might be by my description?
TIA.

I really like the HOS Morphy Rosewood set. Was on their ebay site recently and I thought I had it won with only $165.00 bid but at the last second, someone else (bot maybe) outbid me by $5.00. I was SOOOOO disappointed.

I recently purchased an HOS Imperial Collector set from an ebay auction and I just love it. As one poster mentioned some months back in this thread, the Knight makes a set for me as well. I love the regular Collector Knight but the Imperial Collector is a work of art. The last pictured set before this post is an Imperial Collector Knight in blood-rosewood. I got the ebony and couldn't be happier. Here's some photos:

I should be getting my custom board from Mike at Custom Chess soon. I'll be sure to post pictures when it arrives . . . I had planned on using the pieces below on the board but after buying a smaller set of HOS Collectors, I may be rethinking that decision. I might have to buy a 4" King set of Collectors for the new board . . .
..and for traditionalists who like their "art" hanging on the wall..
