You have burdened yourself with quite a bit of homework, Iogozar. Try to take it in stride.
What does that mean?
I am high class b in rating (1753 USCF) but I am estimated to be class a in strength.
I am looking for what would be the best books for me to improve, I am 14 (almost 15) and have study time and a lot during the summer.
I won't skim the books if they are good, but actually study them.
I already have:
My System
Chess Praxis
New York 1924
Dvoresky's endgame manual
Silmans endgame
Chess strategy for the tournament player
and plan to study those completely first, but what other books are worth buying and studying at my level?
1. Youre a class B player. There is no "high", or "low"
2. It doesnt matter what youre "estimated" to be, youre a class b player.
3. You have 6 books you havent studied yet. Why are you looking for more?

1. I am a b player because I don't go to enough tournaments for my ratingto be updated. I am 47 points in rating away from class a in rating, and I tend to go up when I show up at tournaments because I study a lot in between tournaments.
2. Ok fine. I am a "b" player. I don't think I will stay there for very long.
3. Well, I know I have not studied them but I will - the only reason I am not now is lack of time. I will have much more time this summer and I would like to know what kind of books to buy/read for when I am finished with my books.

You have listed 6 books you havent read due to lack of time. One summer is not going to be anywhere near enough time to study all 6 of those books. Finish those 6 books and then after seeing your improvement, you will better know what book(s) you will need.
You seem to be spending more time posting on this thread than reading those books...
Good point :)
I am mostly responding to this thread during spare time at school like lunch or after we finished work etc.
At home I have been working on my chessable book, when I finish that I will get back to my system.
Ok, thanks for the help! I will focus more time on study.
I'll keep the book suggestions in mind for when I am ready for them.
Chessable *cough cough*! Your openings are perfect; why do you need to work on them? You should instead spend almost all your time on Dvoretsky, Silman, and Nimzowitsch!
Many years ago, I saw a discussion about choosing a chess book. This was my favorite comment:
"Remember, if you like books--like reading them and owning them--there's no such thing as 'one chess book.' ... as you acquire one or two and read them through--even if you don't--you'll find yourself drawn to the chess section every time you walk into Walden's or Barnes and Noble or Borders. If you leaf through the books and compare their contents to what you need, you'll soon find yourself dedicating a shelf or two of your bookcase to chess books. You'll want to have all of Sierawan's books (as soon as they're back in print). You'll yearn to complete your collection of Alburt's series. You'll start haunting used book shops for old copies of Fischer's 'My 60 Memorable Games.' Your hair will gradually grow unkempt, and a distracted wild look will creep into your eyes. If you're separated from your books for too long, your hands will begin to twitch and you'll start plotting knight moves across the checkered tablecloth at the Italian restaurant where you're supposed to be wooing your wife / girlfriend. You've entered a perilous zone ... 'Chessbibliomania' is not a condition to be easily dismissed, and research has shown it isn't curable. Maybe you'll be better off just buying a gin rummy program for your computer and avoiding this chess book madness altogether. :) Happy reading!!"
I've bought all the books I've recommended & intend to buy a couple more, the reason is that I can buy them now via Amazon but I doubt my ability to do so later due to the growing difference between the US dollar & the Egyptian pound. I have started reading "How to Reassess Your Chess" & to my own astonishment I used my knights today in a winning way although I haven't yet finished their chapter.
What I'm trying to say is that books are very useful and even with paying a fortune on them they are still significantly cheaper than going to a coach. And I wonder why when someone has an appetite for them & wants to know which are the best some fellows start preaching him about how insignficant or unwise that is.
Thus, almost 10 days passed.
What have you bought? :)
Well, since I am saving for a laptop I plan to buy most of these after I have that goal.
Today though - today - I plan to buy the 3 polgar teaches chess series and maybe 1 more book (My birthday is in a few days, I got some gift cards and money that I will likely use on chess books)
So the priority is on:
Polgar teaches chess
Quality chess (chess classics series)
and a couple good looking books like 60 memorable games and the life and games of tal I will probably buy very soon. Still, the laptop is priority but I will be buying some of these books very soon
Polgar teaches chess
Quality chess (chess classics series)
My 2 cnts: get only one (first) J. Polgar book, skip Quality classics. Then get Kasparov's 1975-1985 games. Those two books will give a real example how two great players became GMs.
Instead of Q.classics , recent classics J.Tisdall Improve your chess now; Nunn Secrets of practical chess;L.B. Hansen How Chess Games are won and lost. You might find them as 2nd hand too.
As for a laptop. Depends why you want it. There are cheap and expensive with their + and -. You better know what you need :)

Thanks for the advice!
Those books look interesting.
could you clarify why you think those books are better than (Quality chess) chess classics books or why I should only buy the first of polgar teaches chess?
