Chess Story.

The knight in most Waterloo chess sets is based on the 1st Kings Dragoons who captured an Eagle at the battle of waterloo.

My three x great grandad (John Ryder) was one of the troop, along side his brother Thomas Ryder.

We have this as a memoral piece to them and their story is long and interesting.

Imagine being part of something so epic they modelled a chess piece after you and your comrades? We are very proud.

I hope this is of interest.

I have some interesting bits to do with them.

Very interesting, indeed!  Thank you for reminding us that history isn't just stories, it's actual people doing what they must.

An amazing tale (true at that!) of bravery, courage, skill, and perhaps Providence. Thank you so very much for sharing your family history with us.
