@GeorgeGoodnight: The beta is here and will become the official release very soon. If you still have problems, can you please try playing against maia1 bot on lichess? If that doesn't work either, please send me a console log. The new beta has logging to console always enabled. So no need to turn on debug messages first.

It's almost certainly a problem with your token. But the beta might give a slightly better error message.

Thanks Jörn, I've got it sorted now. My fault, I went form 5|5 to 5|3 time control not realising that Lichess doesn't support the latter with a board. When the error message came up, I just assumed that it was telling me there was an error with authorisation. More haste, less speed. ;o)

I've played a few games with the beta. Wow, amazing. I really like the chime for the correct placement of the enemy piece. I do prefer the abbreviated algebraic announcements, but I'm guessing the longhand version is to prevent ambiguity when two pieces can move to the same square.
Not sure if it is my imagination, my board seems to be more responsive in this version.

Thanks again Jörn for you sustained efforts with this. Fantastic.

Version 3.4 is going to be rolled out now. Please be aware that after upgrading from 3.3 you will have to re-enter your board manufacturer in the Chessconnect options. Since manufacturers are no longer grouped together, Chessconnect requires this extra bit of information.

But other than that, 3.4 should be the best Chessconnect we ever had. happy

Which other eboard manufacturer is like Joer who is this active and open to getting their tools connected to chess.com?

You, sir, deserve another great cup of coffee.

On it's way ....

Thank you, @Rsava! tongue

How do we get 3.4 please? Is it the same as the last Beta?

Thanks

Sorry, I was unclear. 3.4.8 is now the official (i.e. "normal" release). Everyone who has the beta installed should switch back over to the offcial version. The beta might become unstable again as soon as I start working on the next big things. wink

Thanks for the clarification Jörn. It's still showing as 0.3.3.26 in the chrome web store. Thanks.

Sorry, my bad again. It's still pending review by Google. So, yes, 3.4.8 is available through the normal beta channel and the same version will become available through the official channel any time soon.

Sorry for the confusion.

Apparently 3.4.8 had a problem with Millennium boards. I will have to investigate this. In the meantime I have rolled back to 3.3 which had to be labeled as 3.4.9.

I'll keep you posted.

joernupbde

I need your help: I had one user complaining that Millennium eBoards stopped working with the new release. That's why I withdrew it and went back to 3.3.

Now I checked and everything works fine here.

To those with Millennium boards and willing to help: Can you please check if the public beta works with Millennium?

The user who reported this was running on Windows which I do not have. But somehow I doubt that this is windows related.

Hi,

4 games before going back to work
Windows 10
Millennium M820
USB serial
latency 100 ms

Under edge it's ok however under chrome no response when played.
I might dig into it tonight, if it's still a problem.

joernupbde

Thank you @lpavchess! This was with the current beta (3.4.8)?

I have a M820 here myself. Works fine on my Mac. So, maybe it is a Windows thing afterall.

I just installed the beta version, and it's working well for me. I really like that I can use my board (Chessnut Air) to do puzzles on chess.com, since the Chessnut app doesn't work for that. It would be really cool if puzzles would work on Lichess too. I know that's probably already on your list of things to do, but I just thought I'd mention it.

joernupbde

@montagdude: Thank you for the praise. And yes, puzzles on lichess are on my list. wink

Yes with beta 3.4.8

@lpavchess: Can you send me the console log? I cannot reproduce this behavior here.

then I put the validated version
no problem under chrome .

again I reinstalled the available beta
Everything is now ok under edge and chrome on 4 games meh

As always Chessconnect is great! wink
See you soon

joernupbde

Thank you @lpavches for your support. So, sometimes it works and sometimes the same setup doesn't?

And they say computers do not have moods..
