chessup 2 abandonment issues

I bought a chessup 2 for my 8 year old kid who takes his chess rating pretty seriously. He has lost a few games on the first day by abandonment: he plays his move. Opponent doesn’t play and clock runs down. We check the app and the game is down as a Loss and his rating is down. Please tell me this is not normal. If it is I’m sending it back. Thanks so much. Ps needless to say we don’t have same abandonment issues playing on the app or laptop, over the same network…

Ignore the advice to return it, it is one of the best e-boards on the market currently.

Have you reached out to Chessup support yet? They are very helpful in getting things sorted out.

In addition to the onboard connection, you could also try utilizing the Chessconnect app (iOS and Android)/extension (Chrome/Edge) to play games both here and Lichess. I have used Chessconnect to play all my online games for close to a year now, it is fantastic.

I use a different E-board (Chessnut Air Plus) but I am also a fan of the Chessconnect software. Unless you are running out of time to return it, I would definitely try Chessconnect and see if things work better for you.

I see. So chess connect basically replaces the ChessUp app and it runs better? If so that’s an easy fix. He loves the board otherwise and I bought it cos it looks more kid friendly than the Evo (them being the two which don’t require a device alongside it to work…).

Ps would be good to have some input on this from someone at bryghtlabs

Not necessarily "better", but very well done and works very well.

The Chessup2 definitely more "kid friendly" than the Evo (I have them both as well as several others) and works well usually. Travels better, lighter, and from what I have heard is safer to use on the websites.

Did you try reaching out to them directly? They have pretty good support, and their community forum has some regulars that are helpful - ChessUp

What are you trying to say?

Are you having issues with chess.com? Then you should probably use the Help & Support here (click on the Settings gear and the Help & Support).

If you are having issues with the Chessup2, then the best would be to go submit a support ticket on the Chessup pages:

https://playchessup.com/pages/support

Or go to their Community forums and ask for some help (there is one specifically for the Chessup2):
