DGT 2500: the new official FIDE chess clock

I’ve seen this Uneven paddle activation while watching some blitz games that used the DGT 2010 NA. One can easily notice how one side always makes the audible click while the other side occasionally makes a dull slap.

I prefer my old Garde. If it was good enough for Fischer and Spassky it´s good enough for me.

The uneven, unbalanced plastic toy changes the game. 2500 will be updated, changed & certified by chess clubs. It remains a failure, ugly and too expensive at any price.
Having now played with it for hundreds of games, why do we chess players allow a toy company to dictate the way our game is played? Toss it out onto the junk pile of failed clocks from the last 20 years and start over.

Mine works great! The 2500 is a fantastic chess clock, full featured and easy to set.

You know that deto is a troll. No point in replying to him.

BigLew
No, but thanks. I do now.

Not a troll, just don’t like the 2500. Saw one pushed off table trying to start game. Magnet problem is well known, cheap plastic speaks for itself. It does work, just changes game play & it’s ugly.

Busted out the 3000 lately. Funny enough I don’t remember ever having an uneven paddle activation for these models. I assume this wasn’t an issue for the good old standard 3000 model?

The 2500 is an awesome clock, and it’s sexy as a supermodel.

I have the 2500, and I like it very much.

Very easy to set, with nice options for setting.

I like to experiment with unusual time controls, and I like that the 2500 has a time control with 4 fully adjustable period controls.

The numeric display is large enough to easily read from a good distance away, as well as the highly visible white side paddle which makes it easy to see whose clock is engaged.

I also like that it allows you to turn “Force Move Counter” on or off. That makes it easy to have it off for official tournaments, and kick it on for casual games with friends.

I'm finding it very tough to get excited about a plastic clock made in China. Also seems to be considerably lighter than the 3000, 2010 etc.

🥶 I bought it at U$D 12, but they sell it to american costumers for U$D 85. Same plastic clock made in china, with chinese standard of "quality"😅

Wow, where do they sell the 2500 for $12 each? I am ready to buy many for that price and resell them for a fast turnover of $25 each. Please do tell. 😯😯😯

Mine arrived today. Decided to buy it after playing some official games with it and after using the DGT 2010 before, I can only say it is a nice upgrade. Of course it doesn´t has the visual appeal of an antique Jaques timer, but from a practicality standpoint it is very good. Especially the large and clear display.
