Differences between old and new Drueke boards

Does anyone know why on some Dureke chess boards (old vs new?) the corner piece varies in size? Here's an example of what I'm trying to ask..... look at the corners of these two boards.... the first board's corner square is much smaller than the checker square, but in the second pic, the corner's size is as big or larger than the checker square. I don't know the size of these 2 boards and I pulled both pics online, but I was just wondering if anyone knows why the corners vary is size on the Drueke's? Thx in advance, guys-

Might the top board be a JLP board rather than a Dreuke? http://www.chesshouse.com/21_Hardwood_Player_Chessboard_JLP_USA_p/jlppl200wlmp.htm

Drueke doeesn't make chess boards anymore, but a member of the family still makes them in his own workshop and sells them on Ebay. I believe that these are the ones with the smaller corner squares. There was a post on here last year questioning their quality as compared to original boards.

I don't know about the Drueke boards but some other manufacturers make the same size board for 2.25" and 2.5" squares. That makes the borders of the 2.5" boards narrower than the borders of the 2.25" boards. I don't know if that's how Drueke did things.

The first pic is from this link, and it's under the "Colors and Contrast" section of the article-

it says it's a Drueke

I have the new Drueke board (2.25") and from design perspective, the edges are right angled as opposed to being slanted. It is a beautiful board.

When Drueke was still in business as a company, they made a wide variety of chess boards.  I suspect there was variation in details over time, although I'm not aware of anyone who has documented that.  They made the classic full-size boards with the wide border, but they also made boards that were sold as parts of game sets, etc.  And they made boards that were simply printed/painted on either hardboard or plywood--these were sold as part of the Drueke "Chess Primer" sets.

I just looked and my 15 inch solid wood Drueke board has smaller corner squares and border (similar to your first picture) while my 18 and 21 inch have the wide border and large corner squares.
