Encyclopedia of chess middlegames: combinations. First edition 1980 ! Help !

Sort:
ESP-918

I found one in Russia used and I want to ask you guys for advice if I should purchase it or not . The main reason I'm hesitating is,  that some diagrams I think not that clear , especially pieces on it .

I will provide some photos so you can tell me your opinions please .

First this is the link on which book I'm talking about :

https://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Chess-Middlegames-Nikolai-Krogius/dp/B000UNPDTA

It's a white cover jacket on it and book it self black in colour.

And here is the pictures from an actual book, thats selling in Russia

For example diagram 839 - a1 and c1 squares, what's on it !?

I have that book!  I bought it when it first came out around 1980 just because I liked the title.  I disliked mindlessly memorizing ECO (openings) so I thought maybe I would like this "ECM" (middlegames) book better.  I didn't read much of it before I started a 35+ year hiatus from chess.  I'm just getting back into chess and am finding that some of the books I kept all these decades turn out to be good: a reviewer on Amazon.com says "Encyclopedia of Chess Middlegames IS A CLASSIC - make no mistake".  I now (finally) intend to read it.

The white cover is the dust jacket (paper cover).  The black is the hardcover.  The diagrams are not the best of quality but they are always readable on paper (but not so in a photo).  For diagram 839, I can easily see a white rook on both a1 and c1.
