Jeremy Silman has written several books about chess strategy and end games. I recommend that you take a look at those and see what you think.
End Game Chess Books
There two kind of endgame books, technical and strategical. For technical endgame book try Endgame Strategy by Shereshevsky. For technical Endgame book, try the endgame book by Silman.

The books quoted above are great books. But I learned the most (pre-silman) from:
Chernev: Practical Chess Endings
Chernev: Capablanca's Best Chess Endings
Fine: Basic Chess Endings
Pandofini: Basic Chess Endgame Course
Seirawan: Basic Chess Course-Third volume
Capablanca: Primer of Chess, Chess Fundamentals
I am trying to not spend a lot of money on books, but what would a good chess book about the End Game that many players usually use?
