any opinions about the excalibur grandmaster chess computer? thx.

I have heard alot of feed back that it pretty challenging to the novice players. Most people like it because you can use the set to play chess 1-on-1 with another player.

No direct experience with it, but if I were going to buy an electronic chessboard, that's the one I'd buy...

I have this unit. It's pretty unique in the world of dedicated chess computers because it's tournament size with heavy pieces, and uses a type of piece recognition that doesn't involve pressure sensors, so your moves feel like a real chess game. Ratings-wise, the highest levels are in the 1700-1800 range, but it has many levels beneath this to challenge most people.
