Originally, I intended to wait until after my vacation before posting pictures of this set, but it has so blown me away that I couldn't wait. This set is unlike any other vintage Soviet set in my collection. It is finely turned and carved. It is nicely weighted. It is well-finished, not the caramel-colored varnish so often just slopped on. It is so exquisite that I believe it to be an original tournament set, not a reproduction mass produced for the Soviet public. Here it is with my Jantar clock on a Frank Camaratta signature table from House of Staunton.
