Free Chess Engine

I really want to have a good chess engine to use but I don't want to spend money on it. Are there any good free ones I could download? And I am perfectly fine with it not being  extremely strong as long as it is 2500+ or so

they have houdini here, but you might need something else to make it work

So how do you run those once they are downloaded.

OK that makes sense. Hit the zip

you install arena, and then you unzip stockfish and then under engines in arena you install stockfish in arena.

Stockfish DD, Komodo 5, Houdini 1.5, Stockfish 4, Strelka 5.5, Critter 1.6, Rybka 2.3, take your pick man, they are all free and all kick Carlsen's butt!

Big question is how do I copy a pgn into arena
