Has anyone read the blue book of chess?

I was looking for a free book as a first boo that teaches everything about chess. I've heard a lot about Chess fundamentals by Capablanca which I could get a hold of in both descriptive and algebraic notation.

But then I also found this Blue book of chess.

It's only available in descriptive notation though.

Should I read this or go with Capablanca?

Go with Capablanca. This "Blue Book" is a typical 19th century work with all its weaknesses. Even the rules of the game as found in the section "The Chess Code" are hopelessly outdated.

Thanks. The book I'll buy is capablanca.

Heard good things about the Little Green Book. . . On a poker forum, where it belongs.  Nice try, though. :-)

If you have iBooks on an Apple device and whatnot, Chess Fundamentals is somethingg you can get for free.
