Help identifying Chavet Chess set (or whether it is a fake)

Sort:
TealWyvern

I am not personally a chess player, however my family has come into the ownership of what claims to be a Chavet chess set that we are looking to sell. I have tried to identify which set it may be independently, however it doesn't seem to match up to any of the options described in this guide: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/henri-chavet-guide

As a result I'm not certain if it's a variant that was missed out from the guide, or a fake.

Despite what this website claims when posting, I can't find the option to insert these images. Neither bbcode or html seem to work either. Sorry about that

The series number, which is unhelpfully messy and doesn't seem to match up with any I've found up online in any interpretation of the numbers

I believe you have to be a member of the chess.com website for some time (~1 week or more) before you can post pictures. It appears you joined within the last hour... so that may be the issue.

GL with your sale.

Ah I see, that came across my mind but it seemed odd with the posting tutorial. Thank you for letting me know

Check out this thread as well, it has pictures of a B212 with a king looking very much like the one you posted.

@Walterbiensur is the guy I'd trust for a final verdict.

I own some Chavets, this one looks good to me.

Hi all, very sorry about the delayed response.
Thank you for your inputs on the legitimacy of this chess set. I do have two more additonal questions to ask: are there any auction sites specifically for chess equipment? and perhaps parallel to that, is there anywhere to view records of past sales? I haven't been able to find any which haven't been private and I am not sure what the ballpark price is for this type of set (B212).
Thank you very much

This is a Chavet set n° 8, late 1980-1990.

The king is more 10,8 10,9 mm tall. I think your knight is about 66mm, which makes it a size 6.
For the other questions I have no answer other than the traditional auction sites that everyone knows..
