Help identifying chess pieces I bought?

Hi all,

I bought these chess pieces at a used bookstore for $10.  I really like old chess stuff and have a bit of a collection.  I do like to know more about them though but can't seem to find anything on these partuicular pieces.  Can someone help me identify them?  Maybe year and/or name of set?

Thanks in advance.

PS - The king is actually the same color.  I don't know why it looks like that in the picture.  Lousy camera I guess.

It really was a great deal.  It even came with this cool wooden box.

Unfortunately they are not weighted.

I regularly go to used bookstores, antique shops and thrift shops looking for chess treasures.  I am better at finding things like this than I am at actually playing.  LOL

Except for the rooks and color, these are identical..

Also very similar, except for the small difference in the rook...

Even if they are unweighted with the box & set its a fantastic deal..!

The Chess Piece is selling a similar set called the Philippino Staunton.

Why bother? Unweighted pieces are usually perfectly playable as is.

I don't like to change how I find sets, except for some cleaning, and the weight is pretty good as is.  A little worn and there are places where the finish is rubbed off but I think that gives them character.  Now I just want to find an old antique board to go with them.  I'd love to find an aged board.  I am thinking 2 1/4 squares.  I always have a hard time with boards.  These pieces have narrow bases but are pretty tall.  I am partial to having squares a little bigger rather than the other way around.

Here is another set that I would like to identify. They are a nice, wooden set of pieces, weighted, with felt on the bottom. The King is 3" tall with a base of 1 and 1/4 inches. The Knight is 2" and the Rook slightly shorter. The set was recently picked up at a thrift store in or around Victoria, BC, Canada.  (3 photos included here.) The number of "gills" on the Knights' mane seems to vary a little; these are custom, hand-made pieces I think. The Knights have teeth. There are 4 Queens in the set.
