You would have to know the actual age. " Very Old" is subjective. There are Chinese pewter sets with folding board/box , online for $300. This could be more or less depending on age.

It was interesting to find, in the real world, a match to a set on such a historical site.
The seller's price is very reasonable gauged on your $300 find. Would you have a link I cannot find any other matches?

Yes thank you, I now understand your deductions.
I came up empty for 'Chinese Pewter Staunton' in both the used and new arenas and immediately came here.
I got off into la la land when I recognized a set from this page. I was thinking it was special in some sort of way. But looking at the page again it also includes some British Lead pieces so I am reconsidering what I thought as 'Mucho Valuable' sets. They seem to be including them just to be comprehensive.

Well they at least seem to be a great match and a part of chess history. They just aren't made of gold.
