ok... thank you Audioq. Because I bought a set recently and the knight of the set I received is not the same than the one presented online. I sent à photograph to the seller (a serious company) and he is telling me they are the same.

@Tshorni, I think it is healthy to talk about reproduction sets. If selling them is legal, that's another matter entirely. As long as people buying them know they are repros, that's ok. I just think repros could be as close to the originals if they can be distinguish from adding a mark of some kind on the bottom for example where you can not see it while playing. But I don't own any repro so I'm not sure if these companies add some kind of "watermark" on the pieces at all. If the original sets are still available in the market, I think selling repros is kinda borderline illegal and unfair but I'm just voicing my opinion here, not an expert on the matter.

As for Chavet's history, as @Audioq said, the information available is so sparse and limited that it makes it almost impossible to know the company's details about old sets (pre 80's), series numbering, etc. Just don't believe what you read on some eBay listings from "antique shops". Most of the stuff they write is absolutely false. And I've seen several of those in the past...

Hello, sorry for my english. Do you know what series of Chavet this production come from?  http://en.aobo-shop.com/674-french-wooden-chess-pieces-morize-chavet-5.html What do you think of this website?

Well. Can someone please elucidate to me the difference of the references of the Chavet sets when the knight has got eyes and stripes VS when the knight is eyeless ans without any stripes ... I read on this forum that there were one older than the Potter,

I think the unweighted and unfelted pieces have no eyes and the weighted and felted pieces have eyes and lines for its mane. They still sell that variation I believe

@ThorFrid. I have seen this website many times in the past when I was desperately looking for a Chavet set. I think the website and the set are legit. As for the set, as long as you know what you are buying, it's all good.

@Swasasa How is your personalized Chess Empire repro Chavet set different than the one Chess Empire normally sells?

And is it possible to take a few more pics of the Knight from different angles? You posted 9 photos of the Knight with the exact same side profile angle view. Thanks in advance!

It's legit. The no 5 pieces are always out of stock, but then I saw this https://www.aobo-shop.es/gb/complete-games/1729-full-competition-game.html in stock so I bought that to get the pieces. The board that came with it turned out to be a nice one too so I'm happy I went for the set.

Edit: I missed your question about what series this is. It's 121/5.

Ahhh.. ok. The bases of the Knight, Bishop and Rook are the same larger size? And the King, Queen and Pawn are unchanged? Interesting look!
