I agree. These were used for many years and maybe produced for just the tournament, I recently found a B-205 size with a 90mm King and it has yet to arrive. But the cross on the King is fatter usually denoting a smaller size set (similar to the Chavet Kings). These IBM sets as I dub them also have more bulbous bishop miters. It is interesting how none have surfaced for sale. At least to my knowledge.
I.B.M. Tournament set - still searching :( ...

Out of curiosity being ignorant of chess collector knowledge, what is the #4 and #6 about. It is just the size of the set and how would one know if it's a #4 or #6 set. Is there a distinction?

I found this set but the knights aren't the same.

Yes the number is just the size difference. The #6 set is usually considered the tournament size. With Kings between 3.5"-4" . I collect vintage so I really don't want a remake.
As far as I know for a long time in the Netherlands existed a company (or brand?) called "Revanche" which produced the typical sets and boards (!) for Wijk and IBM tournament at least till the 80ties. 1976 I acquired from Schaakhuis De Haan in Arnheim an official set (No. 5!, 90mm kings) + edgeless board, but what later happened with the production I do not know. Seems that this company no longer exists.

Very interesting! Do you still have this set? All my sets from the 90s went awol 😊

They are definitely French made. I managed to get 15 of them back in the 80s and gave them away as presents to my friends who are chess players. Now I only have 1 3.25" laquered King set.

Could you post a pic of the set?
Hi All - The I.B.M. chess tournaments were held from the early 1960's to the 1980's in The Netherlands. And some of the top names in chess were there. The set used (up until 1981) was the one in the pics here. I believe it to be a Lardy # 6 set (B-206) and I have yet to find one this large. The unusual stub nosed knights are awesome IMHO. Here are some great pics through the years of the tournament. Anyone seeing a large version of this set I would love to know. Enjoy
