Identify this chess set?

The classical mexican pulpit set - composed of various pieces, pin tops, pawns as hands with daggers, natural and black lacquer colours - this king stands 120 mm, pieces are quite heavy, probably because of a central pole - on which the various components are lined up on - of hardwood. This was a quote chessmuseum.com

I respectfully disagree, but this is not a Mexican pulpit set, but a Mexican Tarascan chess set. The pulpit sets look different (in fact they have a head part that reminds of a pulpit, similar to the Spanish pulpit chess sets). I have both, a Mexican pulpit set with faces (also known as Gaudí chess sets) and a Tarascan chess set, which was made in Paracho. If you take a look at the pictures below, you will notice the difference.

@Schachmonkey - your quote from chessmuseum.com is following the correct lead, but your are quoting the wrong set. Your quote refers to this set, which is a Mexican Pulpit set.
Below that, Nicholas Lanier is showing a Tarascan set, which is this one.

In case someone is interested in a Mexican pulpit set, there is one on auction in Canada tomorrow. Wrongfully described as an African set made of ivory and ebony and dating to 1890. Should have been described as a Mexican set made of bone, one side dyed black and dating probably to the first half of the 20th century, but not before. Note the "dagger pawns"!

Just to follow up on this, my mother bought the set I inquired about for $10. US. Soon to be in my office. No board but pieces are not damaged.
