Hi everyone. I want to learn and understand the KID to eventually using it OTB.

I have Starting Out:The Kings Indian Defence by Joe Gallagher. Are there any KID books that would take it further and be a seamless transition from the Starting Out book to more slightly more detailed analysis? thanks in advance

Gallagher wrote a follow up book "Play the King's Indian Defence".

I’ve thumbed through a couple of the books from the Mastering the ____ with the Read and Play Method, and they’re quite good, I feel.

Mastering the King’s Indian with the Read and Play Method by Bellin and Ponzetto is supposed to be a superb book. It’s also extremely rare, I’ve only seen copies go for more than $200(!). But you should be able to find a pdf of the book rather easily. Those books in general focus on where each side’s weak points are, how each side targets those weak points, and where each side looks to put their pieces in order to put pressure on their opponent. Really good stuff.

"Understanding the King's Indian" by Mikhail Golubev.  Detailed, instructive coverage by a KID expert.

Otherwise, search "King's Indian" here...

The problem with most "Play the _____ Defense" or "How to Beat the _____ Defense" books is that they focus on the author's favorite lines and ignore the alternatives. If you don't like the same kinds of positions the author does the book won't be much help no matter how good it is.

The simpler books that just explain the basic ideas can be supplemented by looking at GM games in the lines you find interesting and searching out sources where the players have analyzed these games.
