Raphael Neff's ChessHouse.com now has the "FlexPad" roll-up board in the SkyBlue color (I own one) which very closely matches the color of the paper board shown in the video in post #1...

On the other hand, Shelby Lorhman's (Amchesseq.com) blue vinyl board shown in his post #23, while also nice looking, appears to be a darker blue than the ChessHouse FlexPad Skyblue board.

All a matter of personal taste...

Kudos and thanks to both of these gentlemen for caring enough to reach out to their customers for their opinion, and having the courage to try something different.

I just did these for ACE.  They are the good vinyl chess boards.  I would love to hear what you think.

thanks

Shelby

Shelby, I've noticed that your vinyl boards are going back to squared corner as opposed to rounded, can you comment on why, I was under the impression rounded was better. Thanks.

I would buy that one Mr. Lohrman, definitely. Any new word on the Ultimate Chess sets their arrival for sale?

I have created what I call the "Ultimate Road Warrior" Kit. The pieces I have recommended is the full size 3-3/4 HoS Plastic Marshall set. The set is damn near indestructible -- it takes it can be destroyed but you really have to work on it. I have had my current set going on 17 years now. For day-in and day-out use, travel to the local club, etc., it is by the best set for the money. I have paired this set with a Full Size Chronos II Push Button clock, and most recently -- as in the last two weeks -- the Chess House "Flex Pad" in "Dark Slate Grey", though I still carry my trusty Vinyl Board with me as I evaluate the "Flex Pad".  All this gear and more are kept in a Wholesale Chess Premier Tournament Chess Set Bag, which is the LARGEST on the market.

A thought here: the problem with ALL these bags -- and even some back packs -- are they are all made in China. It does not matter who you buy your bag from  they all use the flimsiest zippers around, and the ZIPPERS are the #1 complaint about this style of bag. The only true difference is the size and dimensions of each. If you are going to be hauling around a lot of stuff the Wholesale Chess Premier Tournament Chess Set Bag, which is the LARGEST on the market. One company tried to get around this problem buy using Velcro but that is just as bad if not WORSE than using flimsy ZIPPERS. If someone deconstructed the Wholesale Chess' Premier Tournament Bag (TM) keeping its overall size and dimensions and then made it here in the USA using better quality ZIPPERS and components both inside and out and charged a few bucks more for them, they would, I think, be an instant hit, and  would be at least worth the slight premium you would pay. But I digress, that is what I refer to as my "Ultimate Road Warrior" Kit. If I were looking just for pieces you can't go wrong by buying the HoS Plastic Marshall set.
