I like thechessstore.com . great customer service. I had a problem with a pawn and received the replacement 2 days later. I just ordered a beautiful xxx plastic set and a floppy board I can't wait to slap down on a picnic table. enjoy your search!
Newbie wishing input on chess related items vendors

There are several good ones. The two I most recommend and I have used often are American Chess Equipment ( amchesseq.com) and Wholesale Chess (wholesalechess.com). These two consistsntly have the lowest prices on on good quality sets.
If you want something high quality at a fair price but a bit more expensive than American and and Wholesale. Check out the The Chess Store and House of Staunton, which BTW is also USCFsales. In fact my main plastic set is is an HOS Marshsal set paired with a TCS roll up vinyl board. Both TCS and HOS have the best equipment. houseofsaunton.com, thechessstore.com and USCFsales.com.
Right now good deals can be had at chesscafe.com on wooden international series sets. I haven't ordered anything from Chess Cafe since they used to be the USCF Sales vendor prior to HOS is in 2008. But I have no reason to doubt their service.
I've never bought anything online from cajunchess.com. I did buy an analog BHB Clock from them at Louisiana scholastic championships in New Orleans in 2000. But I think Cajun is good they primarily just resale HOS brand stuff.
The Chess House is supposed to be good too. I've never ordered from them but they have a good reputation. chesshouse.com.
Any of the above will be good. There are others too. Once again you'll get the lowest prices on fair quality stuff at American and Wholesale. And fair prices on the highest quality stuff at TCS and HOS.
Thanks everyone for the replies. So, I went with the Wholesale Chess option as it was also linked to this site and seemed to have favorable reviews They accept money orders which is very important to my situation. I ordered their "Premier" pieces with a mousepad board. If that was a mistake on my part, they offered a very reasonable return/exchange policy.
Thanks again.
Hi, I'm new to the game of chess. I live in an assisted living home and only learned a little about it for the first time a couple of months ago. I've gotten more and more interested as I learn a little more. The solving the puzzles and challenges are what I most enjoy.
Basically my question is this: Which on-line vendors do you use regularly? Which are the best ones for a person like me who is very inexperienced to deal with? Are there any that I should avoid?
Due to my situation, I'm pretty much limited to buying things on-line and only through Amazon and places which accept money orders for payment.
Any advise and counsel would be very much appreciated. I'm now playing with a $3.00 plasitic set with a cardboard checker board and would like something a little more adult and nicer so it will be less embarrassing to ask people to come by and play with me.
