Anyone able to point me to where Nakamura expressed why he disliked this chess set? Thanks.
EDIT: Someone kindly shared the answer with me.

I've just been reading through the posts about this set. I like post #299, which talks about what the designer was thinking. The 4th image shows how it is possible to hold the pieces (well, the King at least) using an underhand grip, as if holding a glass of brandy. I've never felt the need to try this - but apparently it's important for the playability of the set.
I suspect so much of the thought that went into the design of this set is well beyond by comprehension.

Was that the fancy idea behind the necks on the major Anand pieces? Makes the set more of a novelty then alongside the bobbing chess set.

Here is a video where Hikaru shares his thoughts on many chess sets. The first is the FIDE chess set.

Thanks. I got to see it recently. It’s the bishop design -it bothered him more than the knight design which irked the online community.

A couple of his other remarks: "terrible, terrible chess set" and "I absolutely hated it".
I'm beginning to like Hikaru.
I’m a big fan of the design personally. I love the knights and the kings and see them as more of a modern take on the classic pieces. As of this morning I realized I F’d up! There is now the actual “Limited” edition black set from world chess, numbered out of only 64. I will be returning the black edition I ordered and have put in an order for the limited edition as that was my original intention lol. Just wanted to try and give anyone that’s interested a heads up!
