Hey guys, I just wanted to give you a heads up.  I just saw this Jantar on eBay and it looks pretty good for the price.  I would grab it myself but once again I have already blown my chess budget for this month.  Jantar Amber OChZ Vintage USSR Russian Tournament Wooden Chess Clock SERVICED | eBay .  It says it has been serviced, so the movement may not have all original parts, but if it runs well that more than makes up for it I think, and the price is very reasonable.  The only drawback would be the inevitable long shipping time from Europe as it must clear customs.  I just would love to see it in the hands of one of our clock lovers here.  Good hunting, guys.

Very nice MCH, that is a beautiful vintage clock.  It truly looks unused.  The faces look very clean, the case wood looks lovely, even the backs are pristine.  I am only slightly green with envy.  Well, maybe more than slightly.

Good Lord MCH! You are The Man! That clock looks like it was made last week and is a masterpiece of vintage class.....Classy,like it's new owner.happy

👍Beautiful! It is hard to explain why but functional vintage stuff is such a pleasure to add to any collection. Well played.👍

The early UMF Ruhla Garde clock is one of my favorites. That light contrast border strip of wood on the edge is very distinctive. I keep it running in the background while I work sometimes to listen to the soothing tik tik tik tik tik tik tik tik sound.

I wanted one clock a while ago even though it may get little use,so I chose the Insa from HOS.

It looks very nice next to my overall set ups.....There's just something about the look of an analog clock working along side a nice chess set.

Just looks "right"!

Yeah! Back in my audio days,my LP loving pals wouldn't even listen to my CD player.I had both formats, because there's always something new to enjoy.

Clock wise....Analog just looks so nice next to a nice set & board.

Lighthouse my frend,I hate to break it to you,but those original pressings(unless they're all Masters) are worth a lot less than you'd think.A good 1/3 of their worth in the early 2000's.

I'm basing this on my visits to The Princeton Record Exchange, where they are gasping for air...Pretty sad actually.

I'm cleaning up in my man cave, books are everywhere, but sine I have time I’d post pictures of my chess clocks, I don’t collect them but I see one out in wild I’ll rescue it.

The first clock I found at a local antique shop. In need of some loving care.

Next two I found at used book store on the south side that had purchased chess book collection, over the following weeks I bought some great books from them , the clocks where in a box, but never put out for sale finally the owner was in the shop, I was able purchase the clocks. Sadly the soon moved to Indiana.

Dear Sir,

Do you want to sell the «transit Clock» to me ? My e mail is : hsoiland@gmail.com

best,

Hovard Soiland

It has been a long time since I got another vintage clock, but over the 4th of July weekend I found a clock on eBay that I had been looking for for several months. I was the first to place a bid, and there were no other bidders, so I got the clock at the opening bid price. It is in fabulous condition. Seems I am lucky like that, as my MOM clock is also immaculate. Here are some photos of the clock.

As you can see, the condition is excellent for a clock from the early 60's. It also came with the original box and instruction manual. I suspect the clock got very little use, and spent most of it's life in the box on a closet shelf. It is even bigger than my MOM clock, and looks quite impressive on the side of the board, ticking happily away.

The shot of the clock bottom shows the stamp for the Cuckoo Clock Shop in Ottowa, Canada. I am not sure if the seller had gotten the clock from that shop, or if they got it by some other means, but it is clear that I was handled with care over the years. I am very pleased with this addition to my collection.

Jerger made 3 clocks in this series, but first being a King and Queen clock. The clock faces looked like brushed aluminum. Definitely the most rare of the 3, and the earliest. The second version was the Bishop and Knight clock. Probably required the most demanding carving as it involved the Knight. Again with the metallic face. I find the metallic faces harder to read. The third and most common is the Rook and Pawn, the last in the series. It was actually quite popular, as they changed the faces to make them more readable. It was definitely produced in the greatest numbers, yet they are not often seen for sale on eBay compared to some other very popular clocks. They are strictly collector items for me, as I would not play a game with them. If I needed a clock I have 2 different digital clocks, one of which is almost vintage itself, being from the 90's. I won't use them for anything other than a prop for some photos.

I have to admit, though I have & like the looks of a nice analog chess clock, owning one was enough for me....but...That one blows me away!

MCH818

So far two is enough for me but there are some that I really really like. I wouldn’t be surprised if I pick up a third if I see one that is on my list and in good condition.
