As a beginner, you can't go wrong with the Seirawan 'Winning' series, my list of 1-5 are for intermediate players (which I guess makes them books 6-10?).

3. Essential Chess Endings (Howell)
4. FCO - van der Sterren
5. My Great Predecessors Part I - Kasparov
