Contemporary version of the "German Bundesform" set, as still being sold by Weible Spiele. Boxwood and rosewood, weighted. My pieces are probably from the 1990s. They call the set "Modern Set" now, but in fairness to Weible, they also mention the origin of the pieces.
Post Your Chess Sets
The green colour looks especially refreshing. I haven't seen many sellers offer a green coloured set.
It would however go well with the the mousepad roll up chess board.

sorry for the bad camera and the mauled pawn (because of dog) i also think that the rook and the bishop need to be switched
Genuine the Simpsons 1997 chess set

Here is one of my favorite sets I have, The 2021 St. Louis Rapid and Blitz Commemorative Chess Pieces (1 of 10 sets only). This set is "to me" one of the greatest modern chess set designs made since the original vintage Staunton design was created. They are just marvelous to play with and to hold in your hands. If you ever get a chance to handle these bad boys, try to convince yourself otherwise! (I can't lol...) Maybe you'll agree...maybe you won't 🤷🏼♂️

I am a member of the St. Louis chess club. And I have seen, and played with the chess set. A great design.
I am jealous ... St. Louis Chess Club! As a player 1st and a collector 2nd, I bet you have experienced quite a few great moments being apart of that great Club. And I am sure you have witnessed some great matches there too...Its on my bucket list to go visit the Hall of Fame (when my schedule allows it)...it would be a shame it I die before this happens.. 🤞🏼

Sometimes it's just fun playing in color.
...and everything looks worse in black and white.

Nice pieces but the mane on the knight looks too fragile for a players set.
Hey hermanjohnell, I can't argue that with you, thats why it is only a standard playing set and never a bullet or blitz playing set. I wouldn't dare to play such games on this set...(especially considering how aggressive I can play during these types of matches lol!). Thank for the compliment hermanjohnell!

Especially for a "Rapid and Blitz Commemorative Chess Pieces" set!
Could do worse though - maybe by playing bullet with an original Jaques 1849 set...

More like a white gloves on and please dear god do not sneeze kind of set...

Lol...come on hermanjohnell set are meant to be played with my friend, unless they're for displaying purposes only. I play with every set I own (well, at least once or twice to be fare!) just for principle. I love you watch chess lovers throw their pieces ($1000+ sets) into a box or bag when handling them. I truly believe thats what they are meant for in the first place. Now, I do understand that there can be exceptions to this rule but all in all... I used to be like that when I was younger but then one day I said to myself...(I would regret dying tomorrow and never even playing on that beautiful set of mine!). But I should hire you to remind me to take it easy on my sets lol...thanks for your words brother!

Do not listen to that nonsense. That chess set can be used for blitz without issues. And is the chess set used in the St. Louis Rapid and Blitz tournament.
Your chess set is a PLAYERS chess set.
I think so too....thanks for the conformation though!

Haha, my friends, what with this photo? "Phantom Veniceport and Dr.Hikamura solving the sneeze issue" Bless you, Herm and Desp!

G´sundheit!

G´sundheit!
Heard that many times, but never even thought about how that's spelled.

I believe, Sam was somehow scared of the photoshooting, so they sent in Phantom Veniceport and Dr. Hikamura to cheer him up and it kind of backfired.
Mine was a genius post, because it achieved with friendly mockery to save the Richard vs. Hikaru photo from Corona and to name you and Herman in one breath like Czech friends Lolek&Bolek as if all was good. Now replace 'genius' with genial, please.

I stopped collecting chess sets a while ago, but the "Prevision Chess Set", as advertised in a thread on this board, did catch my fanced - especielly consering its very modest price (Import fom Wisconsin US to Germany included within a week). A modernistic Staunton design. The pieces are very well balanced and weighted, and the mousepad board (Grand Prix Edition) isn't too shabby either.
I find you need a yellow strip for illumination. Zebra blanket, yeah, and "Elo" score board, cool..! And you still have a chess computer from the time when they were as big as a washing machine
The low table could be in your living room, but it's doing a splendid job of presentation here. On a sunny day you could carry it out into the fields to play.
