How long do the lights fitted in the pieces last?

They are LED's, so conceivably they'll last forever.  The neat thing about that set is that the individual pieces don't need batteries, they pick up electricity from coils in their base and apparently the LED rectifies it, lighting up when it's sitting on the board.  Take the piece off the board, and it goes out.  They'll still light up while sitting close to the board, too.

What? I'm not a chess set

That's very cool! Set a set like that up in a bar or nightclub and play in darker settings.... I like it!

Got a few new sets.....a cheap color glass one ( "Hey happy birthday! We know you love chess! Look at what we got you!" ) lol. At least it wasn't the boring all the same glass no color one that is everywhere. Civil war chess set. A fantasy Crystal set that I really like. Pieces are really heavy and well detailed in pewter, and it is one of the few chess sets with each pawn uniquely diffferent from each other. The next one is a pewter Lewis Chessmen set. Small but heavy pieces that took me a while too track down. The last one is a African Padauk set that I receive from Designer Chess. Been wanted one with Padauk wood for a long time and pretty happy with the set. Laughing

Wide Pics to Show Size Comparsion.

Nice sets Jascias!
Like the design of that African padauk set a lot. The knight is a bit much to my taste but the rest of the pieces are gorgeous. Isn't the board a bit small for them though? Might just be the perspective.

Jascias

Yeah, its just the perspective. Board is 23" and squares are 2.375.

Your camera doesn't have a macro setting?

ChezBoy

I'm very sorry, however the wrong "your" is up there and it's really bothering me. Could you please change it? Thanks,

I was gonna ask how you tell which pieces are yours and which are your opponent's, but I see that they're made from clear and frosted glass just like the plain no-color set I've seen in different places.  I don't know if having the pieces different colors would be more confusing or not.  Maybe it would be best to have one side frosted white and the pieces for the other side dark blue or something.

Jascias

Its cool to look at in a display case, but as for playing it......nope. I don't ever plan to play on this glass set. Would just drive me nuts Surprised. I do play on the fantasy crystal set sometimes, an I have a blast. Not confusing at all even tho you would think it would be.

OS_Germany, That last set is very interesting.  It is extremely classic in design.  I will consider it when I make the additions to my Jaques repro thread concerning the options in the smaller sized sets.  At 3.9", this may be one of the better choices to fill in for the the "small club" sized sets (due to the unsual size it's hard to find closely matching replicas).

Here are some of my chessets, first a standard tounament set from Germany used in the 80's, it's called "Bohemian". No more used in Germany, because the company doesn't exists anymore. Board is 23" mahagoni/marble standard tournament used in Germany anymore.

Standard tournament pieces "German knight" made in India ! Board is one of Izmets S1QP magnetic chessboards.

Zagreb 59 design from chessbazaar on a Rechapados Makassar ebony board 24".

Same pieces on a Ulbrich Makassar board, 22"

4,5" bud rosewood pieces from chessbazaar on a 26" palisander board from Weible (I believe they are also built by Rechapados)

Board is a 22" Anigree from Rechapados

Still with the shameless sockpuppetry commercial spamming?  (Psst, the photo-source gave you away this time, as if the entire "presentation" would not have.)  (Bizarre chess sets.  (Also your fondness of ignoring your spell checker, and using the same bizarre way of misspelling certain words on several postings by different sockpuppets.)

@ Burton, 3.9" is a smaller set?  What's medium, 4.5"?
