Check out this chess history website: http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/index.html
Also McFarland publishes lots of great chess history books: https://mcfarlandbooks.com/shop/games-hobbies/chess/
Any of those should keep you busy for awhile.

I just finished The Immortal Game by David Shenk and am looking to continue my reading on chess history. I am looking for more of a text narrative than annotated games. Paul Morphy: The Pride and Sorrow of Chess is likely my selection.
Any thoughts on that book? Or recommendations for something else?
Thanks in advance.
