however this 1849 is a replica of my own which I sent over to my hub. As far as I know , and I’m also well advised, no other company has ever produced a replica of an original 1849 from physical samples - this is evidenced in what has been produced so far by us and other companies, I firmly believe this to be the finest ever Jaques replica and I’m really proud I’ve finally achieved that

I have no doubt that set will be amazing! Based on how flawless and incredible the Limited ED.1849 Antique set turned out,it should sell out fast and become a new standard for reproductions!

I'm currently looking at some of the 3.5" - 3.692" KH chess sets available on the market to match my new board. I already have the 3.75" 1849 Jaques Cook Staunton from RCM for my bigger board and I like it a lot (the design and history behind it).

I've also been thinking about how amazing this set should be,after seeing the quality/fit/finish of my O.S. 1849 Staunton Antique Limited Edition pieces...To die for quality,which would indicate how amazing this new offering from Carl has to be....One question....Do these new to market pieces have the typical Jaques markings on the underside of the felts? Just curious.

yes, the bases will also have the lozenge
Discussing this design with a few collectors and 1850 seems to be the correct year although there is no way of actually knowing that 100% but clearly it’s a very early Cooke design.
do we stamp the kings rim with -

The only way we would ever do that is with an agreement with Jaques, so we are probably going to go with - 1850 London as the footrim stamp

In any event,this new offering will be a fantastic addition to anyone's home.Hmm? I promised the wife I was already OK and pretty much done with having 22 full size sets. I'd love to add another,but I like her cooking too much to rock the boat.
Lucky the folks who obtain this new gem.
This is just so good - even the slope and shape of the bases are perfect. Every detail seems right - do you have a comparison shot of the King? Please consider offering unweighted!

I think this is your best reproduction yet,, although the knight looks just a *touch* taller than it needs to be. A 2mm reduction in the height of the base cushion, maybe?

The cross on the king - perhaps a bit too stylized? Is that correct?
