Perhaps...but as I've mentioned, I have limited wall real estate to tinker with so I have to selective in my picks of valued art and images to adorn "The Cave".
It's your cave, but I'm not sure about that GM pictureof th
What aren't you sure about? Some of the greatest GMs that ever played the game are illustrated and nicely represented around this gathering in that hall or event, albeit there are many not there. I won't have a lot of wall room so I think this illustration of some of the top players of the late 19th and a good portion of the 20th century are represented in the illustration. Again, I ask quizzically what aren't you sure about ISM? Please give your insight here...
Well, for one thing I'm not sure that Smyslov had a huge purple jacket and a tiny head.
I do like your chess table though, really cool!
I've got word tonight that the timber for my second table has just been acquired today.
It's American Black Walnut which will be transformed into the chess table with a center cavity so that I may be able to swap out chessboards of my choosing. Some photos of the timber and chess table. My table will have a larger tabletop footprint than what is seen in this image. FYI.
The Black Walnut timber yet to be processed...
What the style and color of the table will appear as when completed but with stragiht legs and a wider overall footprint.
Having given this some thought and knowing a bit about QTO's history,I'm pretty sure this will "not" be a Chess Cave!
A "Chess Museum" is more accurate a description.

Hmmm, OK unless your wife finds chess boring!

Appreciative of the description MT, but I'm not one to let my chessboards, clocks, and sets that are stored to lay idle surrounded by plexiglass enclosures and nor to see the light of day. No sir, not with these two tables I will have to play chess matches on and in some instances, two at the same time, when guests arrive for a visit especially during the holiday seasons.
Here's a quick glimpse of the clocks I have and cutting board rack that will be repurposed to store the chessboards upright so that they can "breathe" independently from each other to promote proper air circulation and prevent warping or bowing of the wood. More equipment I have for the building of my personal "Chess Cave"...
Where did you get that huge wine glass (with the corks in it)? The doctor has told me to restrict myself to just one glass of wine a day and having such a glass would make it so much easier
Two tables, three clocks, one in reserve just in case any of the two utilized on any given day conks out.
Not a habit IPM, a love for the game, there's a difference...
That's not my property, it belongs to the builder who resides in your region or "Neck of the Woods" as we say here on this Western side of the "Pond" as affectionately described by most UK citizens.
What size board will your second table take? Are you building it yourself?
60 mm squares, 600 mm overall board size, 13 mm thickness. The builder is from the UK.
My apologies but if you've been following my posts, I'll be terminating posting on this website by the end of this month. This table won't' make that deadline, the timber was just acquired yesterday.
It takes some time for a quality custom built table so the chances of completion before September 30th are nil to none.
Again, my apologies but I must depart these confines for good.
