The Gabriel Coss 1950 Dubrovnik Olympiad Set: A Magnificent Reproduction

null After viewing Gabriel's wonderful YouTube video on the making of his gorgeous 3.5" 1950 Dubrovnik Olympiad Set I asked him if he would make one for me. He agreed. But since my favorite size are sets with 4" Kings I asked him if he could instead make a 4" version. Thankfully he agreed. According to Gabriel's research, there are two versions of the 1950 Olympiad Knights and he agreed to make both versions with my set. His knight carvings are outstanding. The pieces are made of maple and walnut. I chose to not have the pieces weighted, just like the vintage originals. My camera is old and wearing down and the quality of my pics do not do justice to this superb reproduction. Enjoy the PHOTO SHOOT

I feel the key to making an excellent copy of a Dubrovnik set, besides copying it to almost perfection, is to use maple and walnut woods.I guess the reason you do not see it from India is the problem sourcing walnut and maple over there.

very nice set. I like Dubie repros to begin with, but these are nice. The Ns look less like unicorns and more like Mohawks.

Thank you verylate
